JOINT TASK FORCE – NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION 57th PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION
The Joint Task Force – National Capital Region 57th Presidential Inaugural Staff began preparations in support of the Presidential Inauguration. The task force is charged with coordinating all military ceremonial support for the inaugural period. As a joint component, it includes members from all branches of the armed forces of the United States, including Reserve and National Guard components. An uncanny ability to sniff out narcotics and explosives means that military working dogs have saved countless lives and remain integral to the NATO mission in Afghanistan. At Camp Sharana in the Paktika province of Eastern Afghanistan, military working dogs are put through their paces by the training team. Marines conduct hasty rappel training at the Jungle Warfare Training Center on Camp Gonsalves Jan. 8. The training conducted increases proficiency in the jungle environment and enhances mission readiness. The hasty rappelling class is one of many conducted during the nine-day course which runs Jan. 7-15. The Marines are with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
